Richard Santora is a partner with more than 40 years’ experience and is engaged primarily in the Healthcare and Business Corporate practice areas.
Mr. Santora has represented healthcare providers, including hospitals, physicians, physician practice groups, home health agencies, and independent diagnostic testing facilities, in the negotiation and preparation of physician recruitment agreements, medical director agreements, nurse staffing agreements, physician employment agreements, and related healthcare agreements. He has represented healthcare providers and provided advice on compliance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, limitations on physician self-referrals under the “Stark laws,” and the anti-kickback provisions of the Fraud and Abuse laws.
Mr. Santora has created various types of entities, including corporations, limited liability companies, professional medical corporations, and partnerships. Mr. Santora has also represented developers and owners in land acquisition, financing, negotiation, and preparation of architect’s and contractor’s contracts for multi-million-dollar office buildings, and has represented automobile dealerships and heavy equipment dealers in the acquisition, sale, and merger of dealerships. He has experience negotiating and drafting cooperative endeavor agreements, special services agreements, value added reseller agreements, licensing agreements, master services agreements, and related business contracts.
Mr. Santora was appointed to the adjunct faculty of the University of New Orleans in 2013, and through 2018 taught a course titled “Healthcare Law and Ethics” within the College of Business Administration, Master of Science in Healthcare Management.
